ERTUĞRUL GAZİ'S LIFE

At a time when the Seljuk State was under the rule of the Mongols, while the Turkish Principalities in Anatolia were leaving the Seljuks, Ertuğrul Gazi showed loyalty and continued his activities as a border lord of the Seljuks. As a result of this loyalty of Ertuğrul Gazi, it has led to the gathering of veterans, dervishes, scholars from all over Anatolia, and Turkmens from other regions under his banner.

Ertuğrul Gazi followed a peace-centered, cautious and cautious policy due to the low population of his tribe during his administration. He always got on well with the Turkmen principalities and Byzantine (İnegöl-Karacahsar-Bilecik) tekfurs around him and evaluated their situation and political conditions well, and kept the tribe he led and those living under his administration in peace and tranquility.

Ertuğrul Gazi left his son Osman Bey a small principality, experienced commanders, a good reputation and a ground suitable for conquest. Ertuğrul Gazi married Halime Hatun. He had three sons, Gazi Sarı Batı Savcı Bey (death: 1288), Gündüz Alp (death: 1306), and Osman Bey (1258-1326).

Ertuğrul Gazi died in Bilecik, Sögüt district in 1281. Ertuğrul Gazi commemoration ceremonies are held every year in Sögüt district.
